What's Your Gig?
« on: November 08, 2016, 10:08:31 AM »
I know that a lot of mustachians tend to have a second, money-making gig if they're still working or a gig to earn supplementary cash once they are retired. For some its real estate; for some crafting; and some have gigs I would never even think of to use as examples here but are probably awesome. So what is your gig?

Right now I don't have much of a gig. I do a little writing; it tends to earn me between $100 and $300 a month, though it can vary wildly depending on demand. Not something I treat as a reliable source of income, but welcome when I get it.

I have a couple of gigs: Usher at the local theater, focus/research groups, teaching dance lessons, mystery, and drop-shipping.  None make me a lot of money on their own, but at the end of the year, it's a little over $1k.  If I put more effort in, I could make a lot more.

French to english translation. It's about $100 to $200 a month, so nothing much, but just enough. I also help my friend rent out his condo, which is another $100 a month when it's rented.

I look for things curb side, all over I can sell on craigs list but I make good cash reffing soccer games. Usually will average around 35-40$ an hour cash. I also spread the word to people small jobs will do for 30$ and hour cash be it cleaning gutters or cutting lawns whatever as long as they provide paint, lawnmower etc...........

Music.  In addition to my IT 9-5 job, I'll play 60-70 paying gigs this year.  Pay is dependent on the gig, but I'll clear $5k+.  I also will do some IT support on the side and hopefully start generating some profit on my woodworking.  As we move into the new year, we are looking to fund our first 1-3 rental properties.

If I told you, I'd have to kill you... Just kidding.  I meant mystery shopping!

Dog walking $300-400/month, occasional pet care in my home ($50 night), focus/research groups, mock juries, picking up free stuff from nextdoor.com and selling it, and selling credit card tradelines (at least $262/month so far). I've gotten so many great ideas from this forum, and really appreciate everyone sharing what they do.

Been thinking about signing up for userinterviews.com. Anyone tried this out?

I like using the Moonlighting exchange which is basically a less creepy craigslist. There are lots of jobs for doers like yourself as well as the capability to post jobs to get done. Lots of jobs on there; everything from pet walking to data entry to plumbing and more.

From what I hear and read in CO and OR, it's easy money - the biggest problem is 'handling' all the cash (what a problem to have!).
I have quite a bit of info on hydroponics and will do it as soon as it becomes legal.
