Wikipedia: "Spondulix is 19th-century slang for money or cash, more specifically a reasonable amount of spending money. Spondulicks, spondoolicks, spondulacks, spondulics, and spondoolics are alternative spellings, and spondoolies is a modern variant."

The chips came up on a whim. Thought it suited the name, strangely.

I've explained the name, but not the picture. I share a birthday with this famous dictator (and he has a nice mustache).

Nope.

I truly thought the picture was of Hitler.

Heh, :) Well I personally like being a little goofy. I also blame it on an old high school teacher of mine who taught an entire class on communist Russia. Not that recognizing Stalin requires that.

Here I am!  :D  Just kidding.

I've used this name in a few places.  Mandalay comes from a song called "The Road to Mandalay," which I'll probably also use for my journal name here if I ever get one started, and VA stands for Virginia, where I live.

Charlie Chaplin had a nice little 'stash. Hitler ruined it, but Chaplin got his revenge in 'The Great Dictator.'

Funny how this thread got into dictators before I came across it to add my two bits.

Very OT, but if you watch 'The Great Dictator,' the Austin Powers scene when Dr. Evil is bouncing the globe will make more sense.....because it's important that Austin Powers makes sense.

My typical username is also a four syllable mishmash of pronounceable letters. I didn't want to reveal myself to the rest of the internet that knows me, so I made a similar sounding one. Starts with the same letter, at least. Also, it is fun to say.

I remember making up a roller skating routine to that song.  I played my cassette on my little boom box and dragged my family out to watch my spectacular (ahem) performance.

Not at all creative. I am a lifetime fan of the English football (soccer) team Manchester City. For years they were terrible, a joke, and lived in the shadow of the much more well known Manchester United. Think Mets and Yankees, Clippers and Lakers. Then 5-6 years ago, City were taken over by members of the Abu Dhabi royal family. Cue blank check book, massive investment in the team and facilities. Manchester City are the current English league champions, and have been better than United for a few years now.

I like warm weather and was envious of the "snow birds" (people who move to warmer locations during winter months) in my area. Most were older, retired folks. I thought it would be cool to live like that young, so that's where I added "baby." Using a "y" in bird makes it unique enough that it's usually mine. I use this handle other places too.

It's a splice between mademoiselle and mesmerizing because I'm into fancy titles and hypnosis. Nothing to do with frugality or finance, I suppose.

When I was in high school, the movie "The Right Stuff" came out.  My friends proceeded to mash my last name into the title, as friends often do for each other. For me, being mustachian means having the right stuff, so I pulled the nickname out of mothballs.

I worked at a cave for 2 seasons.

I used to use mariamaria04 everywhere, because of the the Carlos Santana song (reminds me of a west side story) and because maria is my name.  And I graduated high school in 04.

I've been pleasantly surprised lately at how often cavewoman is available.

It is an antiquated term for a female trucker. Perhaps if I take up golf in the future it will have a different meaning. Or if DH discovers he is the heir to a title.

Internet eons ago (15 years) I was bondfan, because of James Bond. Then I started participating in financial websites like the Motley Fool and bondfan became misleading.

I bet there is a P.h.D. Psych candidate out there right now writing their dissertation on the vital significance of Internet user names.

Chopping wood, hauling water" is a buddhist saying. Before enlightenment, you spend your days chopping wood and hauling water, and after enlightenment you spend your days chopping wood and hauling water. The difference is in what you think about it. I find it useful to help me focus on the moment, and be good with it.

I chose this handle b/c it can be quickly typed using only my left hand.

NOT because I'm a childish 40 year old who still plays with whoopee cushions and laughs at flatulence.

P.S. Informal survey, how many of you pseudo-keyed 'F -A -R -T- F-A -C -E' on your keyboard w/your left hand just now?

I did, but only after you asked the question. Good idea though, keeps one hand available to do whatever. Efficient.
