VTSAX new lower limits. $3,000 to get in.
« on: November 27, 2018, 12:16:25 PM »
Vanguard just lowered the entry bar for VTSAX from 10k to 3k.

Check out the main vtsax page to see!

Seems like yesterday such things were a barrier for me.  I'd look at those minimum investment levels and almost get angry over it.

Just buy shares of VTI which has the same expense ratio.  Minimum purchase 1 share which is a lot lower than $3,000.

Doesn't VTI have trading fees though?

Also if you currently have VTSMX with $3K or over, they allow you to convert it to VTSAX and start paying lower ER.
I did just that.

Did you have to call? I am not finding this option on the site.

Also: THX OP! I might never have been privy to this tidbit.

You should have received an email from them with option to convert.
At least that is what I got and was able to convert it instantly.
You can call them and they will do it for you or just wait and they will take care of it themselves within a year.
I would not wait for them. Do it and start paying less ER.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
