I had this badass volunteering gig once...
« on: November 14, 2017, 06:54:27 PM »
Ten years ago when I was in my early 20's I spent a summer in the US Virgin Islands volunteering at a scientific research station (VIERS) on St. John which provided free room and board. For 3 hours of work a day we could snorkel, hike and party as much as we wanted.  Even though I didn't have any money then.. and wasn't making money, the living was free and the experience was amazing.  I forged lasting friendships and went on incredible adventures that I could never have imagined and have memories I wouldn't trade for anything.  It occurred to me again recently that this is perfect for those of us who want to FIRE, see the world and meet interesting people while doing interesting meaningful things.

I'm curious- what sorts of interesting volunteering/traveling/living experiences have you had?

Haven't had any yet, but it's definitely part of our slow travel/vagabond plans.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
