Vitamix & produce delivery.
« on: August 22, 2013, 08:46:31 AM »
I don't think this quite qualifies for badassity, but I bought a Vitamix. And I am in love with it. I did buy it Certified Reconditioned from Vitamix, so it was cheaper than brand new and there is still a 5 year warranty on it. I have wanted one for so long and I did tons of research before spending all that money, and it was worth it! It came with a thick cookbook with delicious & healthy recipes. I cook, A LOT. My other blender was such a piece of shit that it stressed me out, lol. I make Green Smoothies for my toddler and this machine makes them silky smooth.

I also signed up for a weekly locally grown produce delivery, which I think is a pretty good deal. I'd love to get all my groceries delivered honestly. I hate going grocery shopping.

Those two things make my life a little less stressful which makes me happy.

I inherited a Vitamix right when I was itching to buy one!

Sure, it's pricey. But if it helps put healthy foods in your body in your own home, that's a win-win. Plus, I think they're still made in America, which is local enough for me.

I make peanut butter with mine, soups and mostly lots of smoothies. Tried anything exciting and new?

Congrats on eliminating some stress!

Picked one up at Costco a few weeks back.  Well worth the price.  I was using the Ninja Blender for smoothies and it sucked.  Too much pulp.  With the Vitamix, you get the juice bar quality drinks (probably because most use the Vitamix!).  Soups are good too.  The friction really heats up the soup temperature-wise.

We made a really good sorbet by combining rice or almond milk, an avocado, frozen pineapple, and some cinnamon.

I have a Vitamix.  My breakfast every morning is kale, berries, banana, beans, walnuts, and flaxseeds.  Love it.

@jeffl

What kinds of beans do you throw in there? I never considered those for breakfast.

Canned red kidney beans.  Can't really taste them.

Man I love this thing!

I've made:
Plantain & egg muffins
Coconut milk
Pumpkin Latte
Basil cream sauce (was outta this world delicious!)
Kale smoothie (kale, milk, banana, apple, carrot)

I can't wait to make some soups! And almond butter....yum....

I have been wanting a vitamix for over a year now, and with my current cheap blender starting to crap out, I think the time to make a purchase is nearing. My old, bare-bones blender has more than given me my money's worth, I've had it for five years and have used it multiple times per week for making smoothies and frozen coffee drinks.

I have started doing research on the vitamix, and am leaning toward the Classic Series (5200). Any suggestions? I don't think the Creations or Professional series are really for me.

I'd wait and get whichever the top of the line one is that they sell when Vitamix does the roadshow at your local Costco.  You aren't going to get a better price on a new one then that.

It will seriously be the best investment you will make for a while! I went with the Professional series 500 (6300 model) b/c I liked the different settings. I cook a ton though so I thought this one was a good purchase. I think the 5200 is just fine, just doesn't have the particular settings.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
