Variability in medical costs
« on: May 05, 2015, 02:11:42 PM »
So I was checking prices for my two meds, the online pharmacy that my insurance covers was $48.99/ 3 months for the cheap med and $224.29/ 3 month for the expensive one. Guess how much wegmans costs..... $10 for the cheap one and $35.04 for the expensive for the same time period. Crazy on how much variability there is in medical costs.

And now my insurance (which is paying none of this because high deductible) tried to tell me I could not get the 90 supply from wegmans. When I said how can you tell me what to do when you are not paying, I was told well it won't be covered as part of your deductible. I'm not paying more so it will be part of my deductible.

Yes. Yes, indeed. Meds and healthcare costs can vary a LOT right now even with the same doc getting different insurance. They wouldn't count your preferred pharmacy? Was that Kaiser? They are picky about all that.

Not Kaiser.  They allowed 30 day supply from wegmans but not 90 days.  No idea why, they only have one supplier for 90 day.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
