Thrift win!
« on: September 08, 2017, 05:05:42 AM »
Returned a gift that I got for my birthday that I couldn't use so had some 'free' money.

I haven't bought clothes in about 6 months, so thought I'd use the money to pick up some bits. Was due to go with DW tomorrow to the mall but had a few minutes today so on a whim went rooting around some thrift and charity shops.

25 minutes later, I've got a pair of perfect condition Nike trainers (I needed some new trainers) for £19.99, just checked and they're £75 online.

This has made me a very happy bunny. AND I get the warm glow that comes with knowing I get to help the world in a tiny way be reusing rather than buying new.

I've never really done thrift shopping before. Living in London it's all branded as 'vintage' and is as expensive as regular shops, but this has opened my eyes and my thrift adventure has begun!

My wife loves to do this. We've found great stuff at thrift stores and at auctions. I love auctions. We got a boat load of that stuffing paper for gifts at an auction so every time a holiday or birthday comes around and people get a gift they always look up and say, "BOBS!". lol Bob's was the name of the auction we went to until it closed.
