The most/ best Mustachian US States and Cities
« on: August 17, 2015, 02:51:31 PM »
A nice moderate climate place is one where you will also not use your heating much, nor will you use the AC therefore saving money. Such a place is more enjoyable for hanging out outside, makes it easier for drying clothes outside, growing vegetables etc. I was on a quest to find the states and cities that are the most Mustachian.
California might require least heating and cooling but energy costs are high. I found this article:
http://wallethub.com/edu/most-least-energy-expensive-states/4833/

For those of us without a ton of family and ties in the US, early retirement could be anywhere so trying to find that ideal place.
Thoughts?

Seems like Colorado is again a top Mustachian place from this perspective, along with low property taxes.
Any other states and cities that you recommend? or best places in Colorado for RE?

There have been a few previous discussions on this topic. Also on the ERE forum.

Someone previously pointed out that you can do searches on lots of different city data on city-data.com. I think that thread might have been about developing some kind of Mustachian City Index.

City-data.com is an absolutely awesome resource for finding localities that meet your living criteria, whatever they may be.  From house values to tornado frequency to detailed demographics, it all seems to be there for analysis.  Also, they have their data for each state arranged in 2 segments, one for larger towns and one for smaller ones.

I found the site super-useful when I embarked on my search for living places that would meet my various criteria.  And, yes, I ended up living in a place that I discovered initially on city-data.com.
