Target's Online vs in Store Pricing

Has anyone else noticed that Target has higher pricing in store than online.  I was shopping there the other day and looked up the sunscreen online and it was almost $5 cheaper online.  I went to the customer service section to check out and had them match the prices I found online.  I ended up saving over $10 total on my items.

I haven't noticed it that way, but I did notice that one item I recently purchased was cheaper in store than online. Sounds like if you want the lowest prices you have to check both every time.

Same thing with Sears. Sears would not match the online price when I asked.

I can see how on some items it's much cheaper to provide them online. And that the opposite would be true for others. And the competition online is different than with physical stores as well. I think Walmart also has differential online vs store pricing. It's a complicated problem for a retailer to solve.

I bought a window-unit air conditioner last week at Target, and the price in-store was less than what it said online for the same model.  I think it was something like $190 vs $230.  Could be due to shipping weight.

I have noticed that in Target a larger package size does not automatically mean the lowest unit price.  Very odd.

Yes, online prices are sometimes cheaper in store. I advise customers to check online beforehand if they are making a large purchase, since we will always match it.

Happened again yesterday.   Everything else was fine except one bottle of sunscreen.  (listed for 13 something in the store and 7.99 online). Had to get it fixed at the customer service desk.  Also target is running  a deal on sunscreen and some beauty products that if you buy 20 bucks worth you get a 5 dollar gift card.  Going on a trip soon, so I had to load up on the sunscreen so it worked out well.

I haven't noticed since we do not have one Target in all of Vermont where I live.

They will not only price match their own site, but many other retailers like Walmart and Amazon, if Amazon is the seller. I needed a new cable modem a few months back and Target took $15 off to match Amazon, then another 5% for using a RedCard to pay.

Definitely worth looking for larger purchases.

I can't.  I have a Tracfone because it is sooooooooooo much less expensive.

I can't.  I have a Tracfone because it is sooooooooooo much less expensive.

I pay about $6/mo marginal cost (very low usage added on to a Ting plan) for service on my smartphone, but I'm sure it's possible to pay less.
