Student Loan Spreadsheet Example
« on: March 19, 2014, 12:19:28 PM »
A friend of mine from my Master's program who stayed in grad school to pursue a PhD visited recently and as she is getting close to entering the workforce.  Our conversation drifted to the topic of student loans.  After showing her how I keep track of them, she asked if I would make a copy for her that she could reference it.  So I created a generic spreadsheet showing the various things I track.  The spreadsheet is only meant to serve as an example and has totally arbitrary loan amounts and interest rates.  I have uploaded it here just in case anyone else would care to take a gander.  Couldn't hurt, right?  Feel free to modify to your needs.

I have tried to add comments here and there to be informative (accessed by hovering over cells with a red triangle in the upper right-hand corner of the cell).

I personally subscribe to paying my loans off starting with the highest interest rate (lowest balance if multiple) and having the lowest automatic monthly payments possible thereby allowing larger manual payments on specific loan(s).  YMMV, I get that.

Anyway, if you have comments, questions, or suggestions feel free to let me know.

Cheers!

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
