Spreadsheet templates for budget
« on: April 10, 2017, 10:30:13 AM »
I'm looking for a spreadsheet template that I can use for my budgeting, but I can't find one that meets my needs.  Maybe someone here knows where I can find one that would work for me.

I have my budget categories and I have $x in each category, and I want to be able to input each transaction on each category so I can easily see how much money is coming and going from that category.

Right now I have it set up on paper as a Leger sheet for each category, but then I have to manually add up all the categories to get the total in my savings account.

I would prefer to use a spreadsheet rather than an app or online program.

If I can't find one I like I will create my own but I hate to re-invent the wheel if I don't have to.

I was bored, so instead of simply suggesting the SUMIF function, I created a spreadsheet:

You may know this, but - if you want to set it up so it adds up spending by month (with the assumption that the sheet is for one calendar year) we can use SUMIFS for multiple criteria.

Updated the template!
Transactions go in the Transactions tab.
The Budget tab will show the monthly subtotal for each category.

Should be straightforward to see how to add new categories.
