For my sales people I have them get a GV number. For my number, my cell is my business number but I never answer my phone unless your name comes up. So if Betty comes up on my screen, that's my sister so I answer it. If a number shows up on my screen they get my voice mail that says, "Please text me at ###-###-####. Thank you very much and have a great day!". I have saved lots of time and time is money so in a sense, it pays for itself for me to NOT answer my phone. It works for me because I stay so busy I do not need anyone that does not choose to text. Plus, a text lets me keep track of every conversation because I never erase them. So if someone says they bought a washer/dryer 25 days ago yet it was actually 186 days ago, I can easily show them when they bought it. <<< That happens all the time. People thinking they are going to get over on me for my 30 day warranty.

I do feel sorry for the people that got my number that we had for our cleaning company in every town we were in. We had 7 of them Those poor people are probably still getting calls 10 years later...... :)

I recently discovered the Do Not Disturb feature. I originally assumed this was for blocking calls entirely, but I discovered that you can set it so that only people in your contacts can call through. Everyone else goes straight to voicemail (but they aren't blocked.) This is a good middle ground for people who have a legitimate reason to call, but haven't called your phone before. You do have to be careful about turning off this feature when you are expecting a delivery or contractor etc.

DH and I have Pixels, and this is the feature we use. Like Noodle mentioned, you may want to turn it off occasionally, and it's a good idea to check voice mail periodically in case a real person called you, but it works like a charm.

So what do you do about spam texts?  I get those every single day, too.  "CLICK HERE for (some random bullshit)!!!"

I'm not sure I ever saw this.... I never get SPAM texts but they wouldn't bother me because they don't take up my time answering the phone.

There is nothing that can't be done through texts PLUS it gives me a record of day & time we converse through text. And, I never erase them so I have them for ever to refer back to. I spoke with a friend this morning who has a large place in the country with cabins and they do weddings... all kinds of activities. She said after I told here about only taking texts she has also done the same and it is working out GREAT for her!
