Severe Nostalgia Lately
« on: September 06, 2017, 02:45:16 PM »
 I'm in my early 60's.
I recently took a trip back to the city I grew up in.
That brought back all the good times of my late teens and early 20's.
Back home I started looking on Facebook for classmates and looked through
a yearbook from HS.
Today I turned on an internet radio station* that fits my coming of age perfectly,
it's bringing back all the memories.
One particularly strong memory today is a lover I had when I was about 19 years old.
My memory is, when we made love it was just so comfortable.
I'm having very mixed emotions, I'm having great memories and I'm also a little sad about
those times being gone.
Just wanted to write about it somewhere. :-)

If you happen to be around 60yrs old, check out this station, 181.FM Classic hits,
http://www.181.fm/player/?station=181-greatoldies&TI=&embed=1
You may need to switch players, (upper right corner)
181.fm has hundreds of feeds with many, many types of music.

It's fun to reminisce. Sometimes I worry my grandmother lives too much in her past though. She loves the memories from happier times, and it makes her miss out on how good life is now. She's much older than you now, but when she was in her 50s she lost her best friend and her little sister. I don't think she's moved past it. It's hard to see her focusing on what's different and missing rather than enjoying what life is today. Different isn't always bad. It's normal to miss things, but we shouldn't dwell and ignore the pleasantness of today.

Maybe you can reconnect with some of those people you once knew? Or maybe you can make some new connections with people around your age and have some fun talking about those times? It's always nice to have new friends who aren't bored of hearing your stories already!

Yep, I did connect with one, hopefully a few more will pop up.

I appreciate the concern, I'm not depressed, I was just reminiscing about earlier years and the music
from that time really made it a strong memory.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
