looks like anyone in the trashused car market will be getting some good sales.

My DD is a salvage, runs fine. I have put almost 40k on it and plan to put many more (though I would rather retire and just sell it). I will be keeping my eyes open in the following weeks for what is available.

Water and today's highly electronic vehicles is not a bet I would be willing to make.  This is why they scrap all boats after being submerged.  Too high risk for me personally but good luck.

I agree with you. If you buy a flood damaged vehicle, you won't know if you bought a nightmare until after you paid yor money.

This is a good reminder to always have a third-party mechanic inspect a vehicle before you purchase. Lots of these vehicles will be shipped elsewhere in the country, possibly with any title branding removed (title washing).

I personally would never want to deal with the issues resulting from flood damage. Corrosion/rust, mold, and electrical quirks. No thanks.

There's a huge difference between a salvage car because it's got some body damage in the corners or hail damage and a flood car.

I've owned plenty of the first category.  The second category is a "nope nope nope!" for me.  Long term corrosion damage to electronics is not something I care to deal with.

Yep, at best it's a coin toss. Most likely you are in for an endless series of electronic failures as various (expensive to replace) bits corrode. More worrysome is damage to critical safety systems (such as airbags) that you will never know exists until it's too late.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
