Relationship after FIRE
« on: July 02, 2017, 01:27:01 PM »
I have a theory that relationships that go through FIRE together are stronger or last longer.  Don't know if this is true but it is based on the idea that two people working together to achieve such a challenging goal brings two people closer together. What do you think?

Our stayed the same.  However, my DH did not want to retire but was laid off and could not find another job. He collected his pension early and will work either p.t. in his field or in a contract job for a year or 2 when he can find jobs. He gets bored when he has not worked for a year or 2.

We're not quite there yet, but I'd say figuring out our long term goals and how to get there improved our relationship and brought us closer together. I think it really hammered home how compatible we are, and how similar we are in our lifestyle preferences.
