Nissan Versa Note
« on: December 13, 2020, 12:38:28 AM »
I was wondering if anyone had experience with the Nissan Versa Note?  I see some great deals on it as a used car. I used to have a nissan sentra and it required constant repair as it got up there in miles.  However, I lived somewhere that salted its roads so that might have just been due to rust.  Consumer reports doesn't have any reliability data for the car due to not being able to collect enough surveys.  Also, how does it drive? I hate the way that the versa sedan drives as it feels jumpy on the highway and the steering just seems off.  Consumer reports says that the note is better with steering and has a zipper engine.

I will probably get a used yaris if not the note, but it isn't available in the hatchback form at the price point I want.  The advantage of the note would be that it is hatchback.

Pay the Toyota tax and get the Yaris.  I belong to a couple car forums (and used to own a Nissan myself) and the quality isn't up to par as they were in the earlier days.  I'd look at a second-gen Fit (2010-2013) if you can find one.  The third gen (2015+) have issues with the transmissions (CVT) going out before hitting 100K and I plan on trading mine in within the next year or so.

Does the Versa Note use a CVT? Nissan CVTs don't have a great rep.

Yes they do.  There was a lawsuit against Nissan over the CVTs because of so many failures:

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
