Really Random - Help With College Application Essay PLEASE!!!!

As random as this is, I need a little help and you all have never let me down in the past...I'm applying to an accelerated nursing program this week and need some review of the entrance essay that I've written. I haven't written one of these since 2003, and I'm a little rusty. I write reports for a living, but for some reason that skill doesn't seem to be translating over to this essay all that well (writing has never been a strong point of mine). I've asked a history teacher friend for help, but he's kayaking all day and can't get to it until tomorrow evening. Is there anyone on here that can give me some insight? I'd suggest looking at some excellent personal statements to get the juices flowing. Personal essays about yourself are very different from dry technical writing.
