We live in a nice sized townhouse that is plenty big enough for the four of us, but about half the price and size of most of the houses in our area. One of our friends built and moved into a McMansion about the same time we moved into our house, about seven years ago. I thought it was ridiculously big for four people, but it isn't unusual for the area.
About a month ago, they put their house up for sale and they plan to buy a townhouse. They are originally from another country and this will help them save money to buy a place there and they hope to eventually split their time between both places.
I have to think it was an easier decision for them having observed our house and how we live in it, although I can't recall ever having a conversation on the subject.
Anybody else ever observe this kind of quiet influence on people?
