Questrade for Canadians new account questions
« on: August 01, 2019, 10:30:05 AM »
It seems like a lot of Canadians on this forum use and recommend Questrade. After doing some research, I have decided to transfer my investment and RRSP accounts there. Two questions:

1) Do you have self-directed accounts with Questrade or do you subscribe to their management services? I guess most people here prefer the self-directed option. But from what I can tell, the fees for an actively managed account are very low. Has anyone here used that service and if so has it been worth the nominal cost?

2) Do you have a referral code I can use? If so you get $25 credit! I plan to open a new account today. The rep said it takes about 10 days to process.

I use self directed because it's pretty easy to do myself so even if the active fees are low compared to banks, they're still higher than self directed and unlikely to out perform the market.
My code is 316228078418455 if you want to use it.

Also a self directed guy.

I use their TFSA, RRSP and Margin accounts. Been with them about 2 years now and completed a variety of things (account/fund/investment transfers, Forex, Stocks, etfs, etc.)

You'll love the ease, most of their forms are online and fast. 99% you can do on your own, it's very straight forward. I can only reserve the fact their online response times (email response specifically and the answers that come with it, can be less than desired.) But always very professional and decent.

Love the low fees, especially ETFs being free to buy! (Scratches my need to be 'active' in market stuff, buy things constantly, etc)

If you have any more questions, I've also spent quite a bit with TD Direct Investing.

And if you don't like PoutineLover's code, mine is: 555727295428112

Cheers and Enjoy!
