Put in my 2 weeks notice!
« on: July 03, 2014, 12:30:33 PM »
Just put in my 2 weeks notice at my department. I will miss the job and the pride I got putting on my uniform every shift, but I now have full freedom to raise my family safely! I want to thank all of you guys for all of the advice in this forum, it really helped me out the past year! I will be sticking around and giving updates, and also looking for more advice as usual, because you can never learn too much!

When did this become your goal?  I would be interested to hear more details.

I remember well one of your recent posts. Congratulations on this decision, and for embarking on a new chapter in your life, whatever that chapter will be.

Early retirement plans started 2 years ago, I have been working since i was 14, saving money. I then managed to become a police officer when I was 18, being my lifelong dream. After having a son and losing someone to the job 2 years ago, I started to think about early retirement more seriously, and started saving and working all the overtime I could to place into investments. I decided to bite the bullet and resign after being shot at one too many times this past year, I did not want my son to grow up without 2 parents! So with my benefits and all the money saved in the bank and investments, I decided it was time to retire, at the ripe old age of 27.

Thanks! I was going to wait until winter but decided to change it up and enjoy my pool to the full extent this summer lol. Lots of relaxation this summer and will be working on my goals when the weather changes!

Whoa, that escalated quickly, to a great ending!  At least from our perspective here it did.  Congratulations!  That's great news, just keep your head down the next two weeks.

I think that getting shot at consistently would have the same effect on me :)

Damn, you were a cop at 18? I can't imagine being pulled over by a cap that young!

It was great fun going to a domestic and sorting out peoples problems while their 20+ year old kid sat and watched

At 18, you can't be shy about pulling people to the ground and using the nightstick.

Bitches gotta learn.

Awesome! I would also be interested in hearing more details about how you got here and how it goes from here, do you have a journal?
