Sure, sounds like a way to unite things.
/going off from the main topic.
I personally don't do twitter. Haven't seen a use yet (although I did subscribe to MMM's twitter on my RSS feeds, so I don't have to log in to twitter to check that one account). I only log on to Facebook to read other people's updates, I've never posted a status update. Good to message friends or post on walls though.
But at least I understand the appeal (for others) of those two things.
But "Instagram"? I don't get that one at all. Isn't it a picture taking app?
I heard it was good, and downloaded it, and it seemed just to be a camera app that could apply a few filters (b&w, sepia, whatever). What's the cause of the hype on this one?
I am very limited in how I use facebook and don't post to many updates. Twitter has a lot of use for me in staying up to date with news, events and people I follow in the tech world a lot more than FB. Twitter can be like a firehose if you don't understand how to use it.
The appeal of instagram isn't the filters, it's the sharing. It's a closed photo sharing network. I follow my friends on there and can see their photos, they can see what I take photo of. And if I chose to, I can push those to twitter and facebook. That's the primary appeal, which is also appealing to amateur photographers.
My business requires me to have a grasp on these tools, but most social media hype is hyperbole. I changed how I used it a few months back when I stopped and asked myself, WTF is the point of this and who really gives a rip what I'm doing and or thinking. Also, do I really want to help companies build complete profiles of my personality.
Thus I primarly only dump on twitter anything I'd like to share, and facebook for seeing what's up with others from time to time.
#mustachian is a good one and I think I'll switch to that, I searched #MMM and noticed a ton of other tags already. Shucks.
