About $100k in diamonds and gold coins.

5 Assault rifles Ak-47 or AR-15 or similar
10,000 rounds of ammo
2 hunting rifles with scopes for fresh meat.

2 years supply of MRE, or similar food
Several first aid kits, a couple of years worth of antibiotics
Lots of water, a well, and chlorine tablet/iodine or similar water purification system

About a 1,000 gallons of gas.
200 gallons of diesel for the generator.
Either a PV system or Windmill depending on climate.
Lots of rechargeable batteries.

Of course if there is a huge natural disaster and your home and all your survival stash gets wiped out you'll be doomed. Best to have a fully packed bug-out bag... and some tasty neighbors :-)!

To the OP, if it were me, I'd pay off all debt first and stash a bit of emergency cash - and some at home incase banks are shut down for awhile like they were following 911. If you are debt-free and own a home (that doesn't slide into the ocean in an earthquake, flood when the levee breaks, or gets trampled by the zombie horde) you can ride out most bad financial down turns and periods of unemployment on very little money.  If you have room you can stock some basic emergency supplies and food to last you in case of hyperinflation or until (if!!!) things go back to normal. Get a bike with a trailer to ride so you don't need  worry about the cost of fuel if it skyrockets.

If it's a SHTF EOTWAWKI ZA kind of thing then not much you can do but drink...a lot!

Proof that the best investment option for "the crash" is a high-end liquor collection.
