PA Certificate of Title for Private Passenger Vehicle
« on: September 28, 2017, 06:33:51 PM »
I paid off the car and have one less form of debt! Hooray!

However, I am in PA, and just received the actual title. Here's the funny question, do I need to do anything now?

I received a letter with it saying to make sure the insurance loss/payee is removed so that in the event of an accident, they don't get my money. But, silly question because I've never been in this position before, do I have to do anything else with it? Sign it and notarize it? Just wanted to check all of my boxes off here!

I've never owned a car in PA, but normally you only sign it when you sell it.

Yup. Just keep it in a safe place until you sell it.

As luck would have it we received the title for our car today after moving between states, and this one DOES ask that you sign it when you get it, so I guess the two states I've lived in previously aren't necessarily the same as all other states. It was pretty clear that you sign it on receipt, so I'd just take a look at the instructions.
