If you're not being cold-blooded hostile with draconian advice during a case study you're only delaying the OP's inevitable crash and burn.

This seriously cracked me up. But then again, it could be the heat in my LCOL non air conditioned house getting to me.

My boss probably wouldn't qualify as mustachian, but I have a couple of co-workers who've motivated stories on the "anti-ANTI-mustachian" work stories page.

And a couple who are anti-ANTI-anti-mustachian.

Are the additional "anti"s for emphasis, or are they actually opposed to people who are (opposed to people who are (opposed to people who practice mindful frugality))?

I think the thread creator just thought "mustachian stories" was too boring

That's a very worthwhile bump. Feel free to necropost anything that looks worthy of a sticky. Also, you might try using the "Report to Moderator" key to see if they agree with you. Not sure if it works, but worth a shot.

Also, when I glance at your screen name, my brain interprets it as "Sadie Sorts Shit Out". I know it's wrong, but it makes me giggle.

Don't sleep on a sofa, sleep on the floor.  Sofas cost money.

So do air mattresses.  A camping foam pad about 2 cm thick is the height of luxury.  Stuff a pillowcase with a towel for your pillow.  Easily washed, keeps the dust mites down.

I didn't say anything about a bourgeoise air mattress or camping foam pad.  :P

Now I wish that WAS my screen name.

Absolutely not the case. I live in a college town. Sofas are a well-known instance of spontaneous generation. They appear every Spring all over town. It is crucial to harvest them quickly, though, like dandelion greens.

Towels? As if I would waste my life paying for towels when I could just use an old t-shirt and retire $7.50 sooner.

Never eat at a restaurant.
And my personal favorite,
It's OK for millionaires to receive subsidies for there healthcare,
because the government set it up based on income not net worth.

I agree.  A better option is to have a neighbour who for some reason calls us every couple of years to see if we need a new couch or other piece of furniture.  She seems to go through 'design' redos every two or three years, and often hands off a nice, high end couch, chair or other thing.

Works for us, and she is retired so presumably can afford it.  I did install some floors for her on my days off, mostly to get rid of the spare flooring I had stashed away.

As for this thread and the theme:

#70: Never ever pay for your kids to do any activities, you wasteful spendthrift.  Ice hockey?  What are you, a Rockefeller?

I wish.  The cost associated with a kid playing high level hockey nowadays is absurd.  But we are already effectively FI, I'm hardly going to stand in his way.

If the kid is a Gretzky/Crosby/McDavid the doors open for him.

KidS plural??  What are you doing having multiple, expensive children?!  One child is more than enough.

Maybe if you have the kid working in the salt mines from a young age.  Otherwise all kids will (quiet literally) eat into your stash with unreasonable demands of food, clothing, and human contact.

Also, if you're a Gretzky, you can't be skipping any March Madness brackets, better be collecting on all of them!

Price of Bitcoin up 10% since this post. If you're following the 4% rule, you could have pocketed your living expenses from now until 2025 in just two weeks.

So do air mattresses.

Preferably a discarded air mattress that leaked and you patched for your use.

None of us have any reason to accurately disclose our crypto- allocations.

I do own a little, but I couldn't imagine sleeping at night if I had even 20% of my NW in crypto-.
