I was listening to the radio last week, and they were interviewing a woman whose father, Kevin Mahoney, had been killed in the supermarket shooting in Boulder, CO.  It was, as expected, very touching, but there was one piece that I had not been expecting:

Quote
Interviewer: What did your dad do for a living? How did he spend his time when he wasn't being a dad?

MAHONEY: (Laughter) He was in the hotel business. You know, at a certain point in life, he actually decided to retire early, and I'm just so happy that he did that now because he was able to do the things he really loved. He traveled a lot, and he went skiing a lot, and he visited me a lot, so I'm really thankful for - that he did decide to do that.

Just a good reminder of why we're all doing this.
