the only one i really don't agree with is:
27. Spend your money where you spend your time, and cut the rest. If you’re a runner, you need good shoes, and if you spend a lot of time in the car, you should invest there. This kind of thinking helps you trim the superficial stuff that does not add value to your life. —GreyFoxNinjaFan

so.. you working people who commute should spent money on their cars and for things at their jobs?  meh.  Bad idea.

heh.  I'm not saying the tips are great...and neither is my spelling of 'suprisingly'.  But, better than the usual mainstream garbage. :-)

Is it wrong that I am insta-annoyed on several fronts by the pic of trendy guy riding an expensive Jamis bike with his leather messenger bag (more fad than frugal), but that the bike has flat bars and platform pedals (actual high end bike wasted), while fiddling with some gadget (must have tunes to entertain himself during what is clearly a very short trip)? AND that the image serves to reinforce the idea that cyclists are irresponsible fools because "oh-my-Lanta-he's-not-wearing-a-helmet, so if that's how you save money I want no part of such craziness." and sure enough, that's exactly what people in the comments picked up on.

Despite cringing over the photo, though, these are good tips that anyone could implement immediately. Though apparently cutting and pasting from a Reddit thread now counts as journalism of sufficient quality to merit publication in the FP. Newsflash: I'm a bit grumpy tonight, sorry.

I do most of these tips, and I'm sure most of you do, too. So, can we out-tip the Financial Post (aka Reddit), and think up a few more awesome ways we all save money that are easy for anyone to implement?

43. Turn down your hot water heater until you're not heating way more water than you'll use
44. Don't wear clothes that need to be dry-cleaned
45. Close the doors and shut the heating vents in rooms you aren't occupying (my bedroom is colder than the rest of the house because of this, and I like it that way)

thought they missed an obvious one:
46: Contribute to your 401(k) and fund your IRA.

47. Figure out which credit card offers you the best rewards program.
48. DIY haircuts... A $20 trimmer means we save at least $200 a year on my husband's haircuts, and that's if he just did a basic local barber. But he used to drive an hour each way to go to a fancy salon (total facepunch, but he had trust issues around his hairstyle). He finally let me do his hair. Much more convenient, and he even got compliments on his new stylist's work ;). Trimmers are practically foolproof for short styles.
49. Brew your own beer, wine, cider, ginger beer...
