Is it wrong that I am insta-annoyed on several fronts by the pic of trendy guy riding an expensive Jamis bike with his leather messenger bag (more fad than frugal), but that the bike has flat bars and platform pedals (actual high end bike wasted), while fiddling with some gadget (must have tunes to entertain himself during what is clearly a very short trip)? AND that the image serves to reinforce the idea that cyclists are irresponsible fools because "oh-my-Lanta-he's-not-wearing-a-helmet, so if that's how you save money I want no part of such craziness." and sure enough, that's exactly what people in the comments picked up on.
Despite cringing over the photo, though, these are good tips that anyone could implement immediately. Though apparently cutting and pasting from a Reddit thread now counts as journalism of sufficient quality to merit publication in the FP. Newsflash: I'm a bit grumpy tonight, sorry.
I do most of these tips, and I'm sure most of you do, too. So, can we out-tip the Financial Post (aka Reddit), and think up a few more awesome ways we all save money that are easy for anyone to implement?
43. Turn down your hot water heater until you're not heating way more water than you'll use
44. Don't wear clothes that need to be dry-cleaned
45. Close the doors and shut the heating vents in rooms you aren't occupying (my bedroom is colder than the rest of the house because of this, and I like it that way)
