Two rules.  It can't be about money.  It can't be something already mentioned in this thread.  Go.

I am thankful that all of my family lives locally, and that we can all share Thanksgiving together today.

Great idea. I am thankful for the love of my amazing kids and husband. Sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky :)
Happy Thanksgiving!

I a thankful that so far all the dishes have turned out okay and that I am sitting here watching "Alice's Restaurant" with my husband in our PJs waiting for the last of the food to finish cooking. And that after, we don't have to go anywhere.

And that it is a beautiful sunny day that warmed up to the 50s outside so my feral cats will have a nice Thanksgiving as well.

I am thankful that the mountain passes were clear so that I could drive over them in order to have a quick Thanksgiving eve visit with my 91 year old friend.

I am grateful to having found "my home" in this neighborhood, in this great city, in the Midwest where there are real seasons. I live in a Victorian village of fabulously beautiful houses. (That has something to do with money--they are all old money pits, haha.)

I am thankful for the great friends who invited me to join their family today.  And I'm grateful my parents back home also had great friends to invite them over too.

We were supposed to go out of town for Thanksgiving, but a winter storm prevented us.

You could say that's a bummer, nothing for which to be thankful.  In reality, though, we left the house and tried to make it to our destination . . . and partway into the trip we realized that it just wasn't wise, called to say we wouldn't be making it, and turned around.  I am VERY, VERY THANKFUL that we made it home without incident.  We had one nasty slide: The car turned sideways, and we were sliding downhill completely out of control.  Thank goodness the people coming the other way saw us and stopped.  We didn't even speak, though it seemed to happen in slow motion -- we were all watching, holding our breath, just waiting for the crash, just waiting to see how bad it would be . . . but it didn't come.  We stopped.  No  thanks to any skill or action on our part.  Just pure luck, just God watching out for us.

Yes, even though I didn't plan to be home, didn't buy Thanksgiving food for my family, I am VERY, VERY THANKFUL that we are safely home in our own house, and my car is safely parked in my own driveway.

Snow-covered woods that look like a Christmas card, a cosy, gas-burning fireplace (so no work to keep the fire going), a song or two played on the piano by me ("real" live music, home-made, so to speak), and hopping into my flannel sheets and under the down comforter. A blessed Thanksgiving to all Mustachians and everybody else as well.

I'm thankful for my sons, who washed, dried, and put away many dishes after our eight guests left.  At ages 21 and 18, they are finally starting to realize how hard we work for them and are taking charge of tasks without being asked.

I am thankful for the "new" settings we discovered on our 2 year old dishwasher: 1 hour clean used this morning and China/Crystal used after our family left... it was the fastest, easiest prep and cleanup for Thanksgiving I can recall. /whew lovely sunny day, happy family, full tummies, lots to be thankful for!

I'm thankful for Doctor Who.

Someone already stole "cat", and "job" is so lame that I probably glossed over someone else's mentioning it.

I'm thankful for my family, especially my parents. The older I get, the more I realize how much their support has contributed to my personal success. I like the person I've become. I made a lot of choices on my own, without my parents' input but I wouldn't have made those choices if I hadn't been raised in a particular way.

I'm thankful for my 2 new skirts.  I went to my best friend's house a few days ago and we made 3 skirts, 2 of them for me.  She helped with the pattern (which is a bit of a reversal for us, lol!) and I had a lovely day sewing with her, and now have 2 great skirts to show for it!

I'm thankful for my boyfriend, who helps put a smile on my face.

I'm thankful for food - plentiful, varied, limitless food. I am so grateful to live in a part of the world where obtaining food is not an issue for me.

The important ones like family, friends, and health have already been mentioned, but I'll add a couple more.

Having parents that taught us to be kind, work hard, and take care of ourselves.

Having the skills and passion for a job that is rewarding, challenging, and adds to the lives of others.

Common sense.
Math.
Love.
Attitudes.
Breathing.
Nature.
Life.
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.

I'm also thankful for a family that wants to get together and share.

In addition to the usual eating and being merry, we have a mini conference or a series of mini conferences on Thanksgiving.

  • A couple of years there, someone made a 10 minute presentation on finance.
  • One Thanksgiving, one of the physicians in the family presented a mini health retreat for about an hour.
  • A home cook might make a 2 minute presentation on the purpose of our meal for the day, why s/he chose the dishes we are eating.
  • A counselor or clergyman in the family might give pointers on maintaining a strong family.
  • One person this year gave out party favors of homemade jelly made with a fruit that is historically significant to our family.
It was fun.

I'm thankful for a healthy pregnancy so far. He is due in the spring and the doctor says that he is healthy and right on track so far - and I have begun to feel him kick and move!
