Hockey is the only sport I'm really into, and I plan to take on a couple games live throughout the season. I use stubhub for tickets and at the last minute, they're not bad! I cut the number of games in half last year though, so baby steps!

My team (Capitals) has a women's fan club, and they have free happy hours and discounted drinks at game-watching bars throughout the season, so I hit up some of those too.

For the baseball fans out there, MLB.TV just dropped in price to $50 for the rest of the season. That's basically $10 a month. You get live broadcasts of any game not in your blackout area, you can watch blacked out games (or any game) after it's been played by using the DVR-like function, and for the first time MLB.TV will be showing the MLB playoffs and World Series.

Spurs won the Mustachian way!  They rolled up their sleeves and ground it out the hard way.  No fancy one man show.  No overpaid big ticket free agents.  They stuck with their core group of guys even though the critics said they're old and past their prime.  And they celebrated with humility and class.  Just like Mustachians.  People criticize those who live frugally along the way and say, "how can you commute by bike?  That's silly!"  "How come you don't buy a nice new car?  Financing is cheap right now!" "How come you never want to go out with us to the bars/restaurants?  Do you not like us?  Are you cheap?"

All the while, we keep socking away our resources and maximize our living/entertainment/well-being without being consumerist suckers!  And at the end, when we win and can become FI/RE, the others are still in the trenches throwing their hands up asking why they're still stuck in a rut while we're able to enjoy life unhitched from work, debt, and worry!

Watching the World Cup for free through Univision online...will find another method when the quarterfinals roll around. I imagine ABC or whatnot will be showing them?

Ah yes the World Cup.  I am giving in tonight to watch the US/Ghana game with some friends at a local sports bar.  I'm mostly going that route so I can visit and catch up with these friends I haven't seen in awhile.

However, before I go, I'm going to eat a homemade sandwich so I'm full and not tempted to buy much there at the bar.  I'll just enjoy a beer or two and maybe get a small appetizer later on at most.  It's a good compromise between staying in and not going out at all to enjoy time with friends and alternatively, going on an empty stomach and splurging on a huge, expensive unhealthy meal at the bar.

I'm able to watch the World Cup through ESPN3, due to being a Charter subscriber. Note I do not have a cable TV subscription, just internet. But because it's through Charter, I get access to ESPN3. There is a large list of cable providers that offer the same access.
