MMM Book??
« on: June 24, 2014, 10:30:59 AM »
I thought in one of MMM's posts he had talked about the possibility of making a book.  Does anyone else remember reading this or am I going crazy?

He mentioned it for sure. I think it was late in 2012 maybe? I specifically remember thinking it would be a good way to get my wife more interesting in the FIRE journey since he described it as being sort of a cliff notes version of the website. Hopefully it will happen eventually.

You haven't read the book yet?

Next you'll tell me you didn't watch the TV show pilot.
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.
If you want to know more about me, this Business Insider profile tells the story pretty well.

I'd love to see a MMM book.  However, I know he's also expressed his disdain for other "financial independence" gurus who themselves are already millionaires and financially independent but they still hawk their wares and try to get people to buy their books or pay to attend their conferences or whatever.  I think he wrote a blog post about Dave Ramsey that touched on this.

Here's a secret for you.

"The Military Guide to Financial Independence and Retirement" works even if you're not in the military.  It's at more than 90 libraries across the country.

It doesn't have four-letter words or terms like "complainypants"-- maybe I'll upgrade that in the next edition-- but all the royalties go to Wounded Warrior Project and Fisher House.

But, yeah, I'd be interested in reading a MMM book too.  However I suspect he's had his hands full with other types of construction projects.

Thanks for sharing, Nords.  I may just have to check that out!  Glad to know proceeds are going towards a good cause as well!

Lol, good one!

I would love an MMM book, because then I could gift it to people...
