Mint's Cycling Infographic for Bike Month
« on: May 16, 2014, 07:40:36 AM »
I thought this was interesting. Normally I don't click on Mint's little adverts because their trying to see me things (as they should for giving me a free service), but this was actually a nice infographic about cycling and it's benefits:

And the comments section aren't bad, actually!

Awesome! Thanks for sharing that. I'm going to blast that out to my other bike-y friends now.

Whoa I didn't know there was such a thing as a bike commuter benefit. Apparently some workplaces reimburse bike-related expenses up to $20/month for employees who bike to work. I just emailed my benefits department! They subsidize parking at $50/month and subsidize bus passes about the equivalent. I want my bike repairs subsidized!

Yeah!  My office offers this and it's a great deal.  I just save my receipts and turn them in and the end of the year for reimbursement up to $240.  That's pays for a lot of parts and tools!

If I don't have a fully $240 by the end of the year I can stock up on tubes and other consumables.

I emailed our wellness committee about this. They reimburse gym passes quite a bit, be nice to get bike repairs too since I suspect that has a better overall life effect :)

And perhaps most importantly, the cyclist in their infographic has a moustache.

I don't think my employer participates, but since I need the bus when I bike (too far to ride) the transit voucher they do give me is worth a lot more than 20 bucks a month.

Well that's completely annoying. The federal agency I work for doesn't participate in the bicycle commuting benefit, but a couple of our "sister" agencies do. Annoyed.

Yeah, my organization subsidizes parking at $50/month and transit at about $50/month, but I asked them about the cycling benefit and they don't offer it and "aren't planning to extend the program." Annoying!

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
