Picked up an exercise bike yesterday
« on: February 02, 2017, 08:37:05 AM »
I hate working out in public and figured if I could put in 44 minutes while watching an hour serial in my living room that this would be a good way to get 'free' exercise where I'm not even thinking about it.

After installing it, I got on and started to ride and swore to myself I wouldn't look at the dial until I was done.

Flash forward 40 minutes and the show is over and I glance down: 8.6 miles, 310 calories. What?!?!

I wasn't even sweating, my legs aren't sore today, how did I burn 310 calories?? This is awesome

Great job! I feel the same about my treadmill. Helps me run for an hour every night while I get in a TV binge.

Aye, they are pretty good, I had one back in the UK that was pretty generous with its 'calories consumed' counter, so it was good for an ego boost.

If you watch broadcast TV you can do sprint sets in the ad breaks and then just pedal normally during the show. If you are on Netflix then maybe try going flat out during the credits or something. It should also have a resistance dial that you can increase when you find your legs aren't getting sore the day after to boost the benefit.

Happy pedaling!
