Looking for Mustachian Type Lifestyle Blogs
« on: January 18, 2013, 03:12:08 PM »
I love style blogs but they tend to have a heavy focus on buying the new "it" thing - not so good when you are trying to get on a more mustachian path.  I came across this lovely blog that incorporates style, a simple lifestyle, veganism (I am not vegan but love vegetables), and mustachian principles.  I would love to get any other recommendations of blogs of a similar ilk especially from a female perspective.  I prefer more modern design/style but still appreciate the asethetic in the blog below.

Here is a nice summary post of the blog:

This is an Australian blog which is very practical, although it might be a bit "folksy" for what you are looking for. If you follow the Friday links she posts each week, and or go down the blog role , there's a whole rabbit warren of Aussie blogs...some more stylish than others

LackingAmbition is probably my favorite one after MMM.

This post lists all the blogs written by MMM readers:
https://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/mustachianism-around-the-web/the-mmm-readers'-blogroll/

Check MMM's blogroll as well, and also ERE's blog roll.  Also, for that style reading, I like to go into the ERE forums and read the "journal" posts.

And, depending on your preferences, there are a lot of other blogs out there.  Depends on what you're looking for (RV living, traveling the world after FIRE, super cheap FIRE ala ERE-style, etc.)
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.
If you want to know more about me, this Business Insider profile tells the story pretty well.
I (rarely) blog at AdventuringAlong.com. Check out the Now page to see what I'm up to currently.

Google around for forums on Homesteading, Hobby Farms, Permaculture, and you can find different shades of what people discuss here. Making life simple, developing independence, being frugal with money, generally unplugging from the expectations of "normal" consumerism.

There's a small community section on "Not So Big House" ... but this is a book that is widely known among downsizers, you may find other venues discussing it.

I'd like to drop another vote for lackingambition.com.

You need to read carefully to understand just how impressive Mike's accomplishments really are.

In his words "I find my relation to money, education and career makes me different from most of my peers."

Best,
Mr. Pop

another vote for lackingambition.com  though it is much more of a personal journey blog and not at all a financial advice blog i think his accomplishments re: financial independence are among the most impressive of all the early retirement blogs.  also a very curious and philosophical mind at work there.  good stuff.

Here's one I like because it focuses on how many different ways can you wear the same clothes. Also because she shows how to put together a wardrobe using only a few items.

On the fashion side of things, I like We So Thrifty (http://wesothrifty.com).  She buys basically all her clothing at thrift stores.  Bonus points:  she is tall, which is my main thrifting challenge.

I started a FI and ER lifestyle blog last year and it's been going great. The site is www.theFIguy.com. Let me know what you think!

Thanks, Amy!  That is a neat blog and the author is from my hometown which makes her thrifting even more interesting to me.
