I found this article to be an interesting perspective. What are people's thoughts?

I didn't go through the game but I did spend a good bit of time on the site reading the various articles and I appreciate the way the author thinks.  Bookmarked for future visits!

I think the principles he wrote are solid, and using the game analogy worked well for me.

My question for younger people here to answer: does this resonate with teens/early twenties, or does it seem a little too obvious / trite for that generation. In other words, would my kids get something out of this, or just find it kind of annoying? (in which case, it is perhaps something to point them to a little later in life).

That's a good question and a good idea. As a 26 year-old, who's not even a gamer, I generally really liked the idea. I resonated with it. One thing I would tweak about it though, is noting that the goal isn't to "beat" others. Each individual is playing is own game.

The game analogy didn't particularly resonate with me personally, but I do like some of the other blogs he's posted:
http://oliveremberton.com/

I just started looking at the "Life is a Maze" one, and I like that analogy better.  Here's what he calls his "best of".

I'll probably spend several hours reading through his stuff later.

Thanks for the link!

If you want to know more about me, this Business Insider profile tells the story pretty well.

Oh sweet. I haven't checked out any of his other writings - good to hear that his other stuff is good, too!

I really enjoyed the article- I'm a 29 y/o female who has been known to game on occassion, so I really like the metaphor. And the +10 comfortable pants made me laugh! :-D And face painting, and bouncing ball on knee, and really, the entire article is very amusingly truthful. Thanks for sharing, El Gringo!

I think this strategy would appeal to my youngest.
The same things don't motivate us all.
The same message won't open every set of eyes.
