Does anyone use this for their checking accounts ?  The rates look a little better than average.

Yes, I do at my local bank, it's a great deal.  But to get the 2.75% you need direct deposit, online statements, and 10 debit card transactions monthly.  And you only get it up to $25K.  So you do have to do a little bit of work for the money.

Good to know. Maybe having more than one account might be a way around
the maximum deposit.  2.75 percent in an FDIC insured account and the other perks
seems worth looking into.

My wife and I have one  at our local credit union. 3.15% up to $10k for each checking account. It requires 10 transactions a month and one of those has to be ACH. It also requires estatements, but we wouldn't want paper anyways. We have ours with $10k in it as part of our emergency fund since it is accessible with a debit card.

I saw an ad for this a few years back.  I started one, and then I had my husband start one.   It's our emergency money, our 'let's go on another vacation' money, etc.
We meet the qualifications every month.

But that reminds me.....one of the 'hoops' we jump through is having my paycheck direct deposited there.  If/when I'm no longer working, we'll have to have something else to replace that automatic transaction.  We have the cable bill come out of his account to satisfy that part of the requirements.

Besides the interest part, they reimburse ATM fees.   We only use an ATM occasionally, but we never have to think twice about the fee.

I'm leery of using debit cards for purchases, in light of all the credit / debit card skimming scams out there.  I only use debit card at my local bank, if needed, to withdraw / deposit funds as needed (not often).  I use credit cards for all purchases because of the much stronger protection and the fact your actual funds are never touched if a scammer gets ahold of your card number.
