Hello. New to this 'mustache' thing and frankly, not very far along in the journey. None the less, here I am!
I am in search of an app or spreadsheet or calculator (for free if possible!) where one can enter the ingredients of a recipe, quantities, cost of each ingredient and have it calculate the cost per serving. One of the MMM posts (sorry, I forget which one it was) talks about spending $1 per person per meal and I'm trying to see how some of my fave recipes stack up cost wise.
My dream-spreadsheet would let me create a database of ingredients and the cost of those for the places I shop and ideally, the recipe calculator would automatically grab that data every time I start a new recipe.
If it also calculated calories per dollar spent, that would be an added bonus!
I started creating my own excel spreadsheet but quickly came to realize that I was in over my head (in case you haven't guessed, I DO NOT work in the tech industry!) I would be surprised if such a thing didn't already exist … I tried to search this forum but for some reason the search function was not working properly for me. If my unicorn app or spreadsheet exists somewhere here, I apologize and humbly ask that you point me the right direction.
Regards,
PZ
P.S. I have Googled this, everything I have found that is downloadable seems … well, sketchy. :-(

Search for "recipe cost template" on Google. Tons there.
If you need a free Spreadsheet program download and install LibreOffice. Linux, Mac or Windows.

There is also a portable version for thumb drives.

I don't have an app or spreadsheet, I just do it in my head as a fun mental exercise while I'm cooking or eating dinner.

I've been using https://www.cookkeepbook.com
It is eyeopening to calculate costs of meals. We are nowhere near $1 meal...
