IRS finalizes Mega Backdoor Roth rules
« on: May 17, 2016, 02:37:22 PM »
http://federalregister.gov/a/2016-11647

The document finalizes regulations relating to rollovers and reaffirms Notice 2014-54 (the IRS notice that permitted the mega backdoor Roth).

Is there a TL;DR version, or a summary without the IRS/legalese? :)

TL;DR: the Mega Backdoor Roth is still available.

Yes: "It's OK to use the mega backdoor Roth."

See https://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=137366 or any other google result from searching   mega backdoor Roth  if the term itself is unfamiliar.

Interesting. I didn't read it closely but the summary was about "designated Roth accounts" (aka Roth 401(k)/403(b) accounts). Was the part about splitting after-tax traditional rollovers between traditional and Roth buried in there somewhere as well?

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
