Introducing myself (Hello from Irvine, CA)
« on: May 04, 2013, 01:13:28 PM »
I am not sure if I can call myself a mustachian but I am Indian for sure ;-)

For those of you who might not know what that means, I am the kind who effectively have thousand dollars worth of equipment for a fraction of the price by either buying it used and fixing them up and/or waiting for special sales to come up. When I first came here to the U.S. I even used to ask for discounts in items I paid with cash :-D (I have stopped doing that once I realized Walmart cashiers does not quite have that ability!)

Besides no debt of any kind (my engineering degree is debt-free but it was by working a lot and not owning a car) and 6mo worth of savings, the frugal (but not cheap!) soul in me keeps most expenses in check.

I do need help: https://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/reader-recommendations/being-self-employed-while-planning-to-have-children/

Anyways, I would love to meet fellow members who live in SoCal (Irvine anyone?). Reply here or PM if you are interested!

I'm in Los Angeles but would not be against an Irvine meetup if there's an event.  Irvine is on my list of cities to live in when I retire - and on my list of cities in which I'd love to find a job, too.

What domain are you in? Irvine seems to be coming back up with jobs now so anyone with experience (and MMM ideas) should be able to get a job here!

There seems to be very few MMM readers in OC, specially around Irvine, Fullerton area. Maybe I should create a separate thread for collecting them in one place?

I'm in tech.  I do look in Irvine when I job hunt, although I plan to be in Los Angeles another few years.  I'm in Irvine often enough socially that maybe I should look for a part-time job there, too. ;-)

Hopefully they'll check in somewhere on the board. :-)
