http://www.vox.com/new-money/2016/11/30/13793870/netflix-download-option-feature

just found this.

I'm going to try this. I already avoid searchingand doing things on the internet while at home anyways, but I like to watch netflix and hulu, so if this works this may be my last month of having home internet.

How does that save costs?  Some device/connection still needs to cache the download.

Are you going to try to make use of public wifi to download ahead of time?  That might turn into a chore as most public connections have poor bandwidth.

If you use a work connection, be careful that you wouldn't be affecting bandwidth and/or capacity.  At minimum it would be unethical.  At worst, you could be slowing others actual work and could get fired.

Swinging by the library was going to be a big one. I'll try it some this weekend.

Right now my billl is $78, I could go slower bandwith but the only tolerable one is sill over $60 so I am pretty desperate to find something to work.

Are they offering that for the shows you watch?  Everything I have read point to it only being available for a limited number of shows.  Not sure if/when they plan on expanding to their whole catalog.

Too many variables to give a precise number. Could be anywhere from 1 minute to maybe as much as an hour. Factors include the bitrate (encoding quality) of the movie and your internet connection speed. The formula is essentially bitrate * length / connection speed. I would guess for most U.S. home internet connections, it would be in the 10-30 minute range.

You are on to something here, that is if its doable, I don't need a much more than a 10meg connection that Comcast offers for $30/month (regular pricing) for the little bit I use the internet at home. The issue I run into is Netflix as the OP noted.
