Might also affect the relative cheapness of retiring to Mexico.  Perhaps it will become cheap to move to Japan instead!

I don't think economic projections 35 years out are reliable enough to be useful. Basically they just say the largest countries by population will be the largest economies in total (not per capita) terms. OK. Real bold there.

And speculating that Japan's stagnation and China's unsustainable growth will both continue unchecked for 35 years is just silly. Maybe it does. But I think regression to the mean is far more likely.
