Depending on family size, one pack is more than a couple months. It doesn't sound like he's hoarding It's for us non hoarders who want to buy our next economical pack to know when it will be available. Or if we are running low should we buck up and buy the expensive 4 pack of novelty paper if that's all available on Amazon until April.

You said originally that you have a few months worth of toilet paper. If that is true, why are you trying to purchase more at this time? To purchase more at this time would be hoarding.

Here's what I did. (I should emphasize that we were down to 2 rolls for a family of 5 and this was the only place I could find some and the only way they would sell it - I'm NOT hoarding).
Search for office supply companies. I literally googled "Office supply warehouse". These are places that will provide furniture, desks, office equipment, breakroom and RESTROOM supplies for businesses. They sell the large rolls of toilet paper that you find in office buildings, etc. You'll likely need to order a pack of 12 or more, but it will only be about $50-$70 bucks and it will arrive in 3-5 days. It won't fit your standard dispenser of course and it won't be the best quality, but it is softer than a paper towel and it's made to go down the toilet and it will last you as long as thing whole situation will last.

Nobody ever regretted hoarding. Many people, on the other hand, live to regret not hoarding. This is an observation, not particularly my opinion or a moral stance. I do wish it was not so but it does indeed seem to be the case...uh oh.

This seems to be a regional thing. We have TP in the mid south. You might not get your fave brand, but it can be found.

Nah people are probably realizing they get in trouble with the law if they try to price gouge people and this is Costco's way to give them the middle finger for making their life harder.
I highly doubt many people would regret buying all the extra if they could sell it now for a big profit.

On this topic. I do have enough TP to last me for a while. But probably not until this entire pandemic situation is over. I do not want to leave home while this is going on -- and I plan on trying to have everything delivered that I need.
There don't seem to be any options for ordering TP online, except for extremely high prices from scalpers on ebay.
I'd be A-OK with placing an order knowing it might put me "in line" for a few weeks before the order actually ships. The online retailers I'm familiar with -- they don't seem to have this as an option.

Yes, the well known companies like Office Depot or Staples don't have any left (AFAIK). You've got to find places that are online-only. Like (and I'm making this up) the "Great Lakes Office Supply Warehouse" and the "Hawkeye State Office Supply Warehouse") - even in Canada these places seem to have some. @RetiredAt63 - I've messaged you a Canadian place that seems to have some for delivery.

It’s like the prisoner’s dilemma. From a selfish perspective it makes sense to hoard. From a community perspective it’s suicide to hoard.
If you deny your neighbors key supplies there could be civil unrest, far worse spread of disease (people can’t get hand sanitizers / cleaning wipes to clean themselves and the environment). In the long run it could bite you in the ass way worse than you think.
Don’t be that person setting a fire on a lifeboat to keep yourself warm using wood from the boat, thinking you’ll be better off in the long run.

Yes. And these signs don't prove anybody tried to return anything just that Costco suspects they might. I highly doubt anybody at this point has tried to return anything. Also, the people who are wired to hoard surely overlap strongly with those who would never regret hoarding. In order to regret hoarding you have to be wired to not hoard which would prevent you from doing it in the first place.

Managed to order one pack off Amazon yesterday. Estimated delivery April 4. I hope we can last that long... ;-)

I doubt they'd have a hard time getting rid of the packs right there at the door...
