Not sure how long we will be here, guessing until husband retires in 4 years. We have been here 9 years. I have a love/hate relationship with this house.

1400 sqft
2.  How many live in your home?
2 adults
3.  Do you own or rent?
Own
4.  What do you spend on rent or mortgage/taxes/insurance per month?
$80/mo. for property taxes. I'm getting a special property tax abatement for living in a "distressed" neighborhood (it's not actually that bad) which expires in a few years, then my taxes will more than double.
5.  If own, what is the balance or mortgage, if any?
$0
6.  Are you intending to stay in current residency or is a move in the future?
Probably. I might put it up for rent so we can do some long term traveling in retirement.

I rent a 1300 sq. ft. place with three roommates (four of us total). Rent is $1300/month, or $325 each, which is great. I hope to continue to live here at least two more years (leases run Aug-July).
We renewed for this year and are about to do so again for next year. Great landlord, great neighborhood, and great house. I wish we had three-quarters this much house for three-quarters the price so we wouldn't perpetually have a subletter, but to be fair I have really liked all of our subletters. We pay $332.50 this year, which is about in line with inflation.

1100 sqft
2.  How many live in your home?
2 adults
3.  Do you own or rent?
Own
4.  What do you spend on rent or mortgage/taxes/insurance per month?
about $1400  (1000/350/50)
5.  If own, what is the balance or mortgage, if any?
$136K  recently refinanced (at under 3%, 15 yr) to pull ~40K cash out to remodel a rental property
6.  Are you intending to stay in current residency or is a move in the future?
Probably will stay. We need a little more space and will likely add on one more room, because that appears to cost less than moving to a ~1500 sq ft house.
7. Lot size, 9000 sq ft
8. Park both cars in the driveway. The 1 car garage is used for storage: bicycles, lawnmower, garden tools, all kinds of other junk.

1.  How many sqft is your home? 2400 square feet plus unfinished basement and attic (4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, but there is also not-very-nice 5th bedroom in the attic--you have to go through unfinished/unheated space to get to it)

2.  How many live in your home? 2 adults (usually, though sometimes we're down my husband--he's out of the country for 9 months, and my sister lived with us for two years, and my MIL stays for a few months at a time), 3 kids, 3 dogs, several (unwelcome) mice, squirrels on occasion (though we evict them)

3.  Do you own or rent?   Own

4.  What do you spend on rent or mortgage/taxes/insurance per month? $2500/ $800/ $250

5.  If own, what is the balance or mortgage, if any? $340,000 - 15 yr mortgage at 2.95% - 14 years left

6.  Are you intending to stay in current residency or is a move in the future?  We plan on staying.  Love the house, love the block, love the neighborhood.

7. What is the size of  your lot/garden? 10,000 square feet--decent size for a city lot.

8. Where do you park?  One car in the "two-car" detached garage (could probably fit 2 model t's in there, not two modern cars unless smart car), one in narrow driveway

~1200 sf
2 people 2 pets
own
taxes and insurance $125 a month
zero!
move in two years

additional answers:
about a 1/4 acre in seasonal veggies, 3/4 acres total "garden" another 2 acres mowed and remainder is wooded-needless to say parking is pretty much wherever we want.

1.  How many sqft is your home? 450 or so? I don't really know but it's plenty for me.

2.  How many live in your home? 1 "adult"

3.  Do you own or rent?  rent

4.  What do you spend on rent or mortgage/taxes/insurance per month? $500

6.  Are you intending to stay in current residency or is a move in the future? Probably stay for now... I have a few nitpicks, but the apartment itself is nice enough and the location is by far the best compromise I can find given what I want

8. My bikes live in the kitchen ;-) I wish I could rent out my parking spot, but there's no demand here.

1.  How many sqft is your home?

     ~1100

2.  How many live in your home?

Two - me and my youngest son, with my grown son drifting in and out rather unpredictably (*grumble*).

3.  Do you own or rent?

     Own.

4.  What do you spend on rent or mortgage/taxes/insurance per month?

     Mortgage/taxes = $813
     Insurance = $30
HOA dues = $390  (major pain point - it is an older townhouse condo in an older community)

5.  If own, what is the balance or mortgage, if any?

     $139k

6.  Are you intending to stay in current residency or is a move in the future?

I will be staying at least 8 years when my son graduates from high school, because I want to keep him in this school district and the cost of stand-alone houses in this area is crazy. After that point I'll do the cost/benefit analysis on buying a real house vs. staying in the townhouse vs. buying a house and renting out the townhouse.

The home we own:
1.  How many sqft is your home?  4300 sq ft...but it is two units.  We live in 2500; we rent out 1800.

2.  How many live in your home?  Our part = family of 5.  Apartment = 3-5 people.  It's a three bedroom, and we rent to college students.

3.  Do you own or rent?    Own.

4.  What do you spend on rent or mortgage/taxes/insurance per month?  Mortgage is paid.  Taxes and Insurance are about $180/mo.

5.  If own, what is the balance or mortgage, if any?  ZERO!

6.  Are you intending to stay in current residency or is a move in the future?  We will probably buy a house when we return to town, and continue renting out that house.  The layout doesn't really work for our family, and we could divide our part into two apartments (a one bedroom and a three bedroom).

We currently live in another town for my sabbatical (I'm a professor):

1.  How many sqft is your home?  3000 sq ft

2.  How many live in your home?  5

3.  Do you own or rent?     rent

4.  What do you spend on rent or mortgage/taxes/insurance per month?  $1600, but it's actually a deal for our neighborhood...and cheaper than paying for private schools for our two older children :)  We are renting our part of the house above for $1000/mo, so it's a net cost of $600/mo.  Ouch but worth it.

5.  If own, what is the balance or mortgage, if any?

6.  Are you intending to stay in current residency or is a move in the future?

1. 1200 sq feet

2. 2 people, but occasionally a third lives with us.

3. Own.

4. $965 for PITI. We're paying an extra $1035 on top of that.

5. $115K

6. Stay for the next 10. Further out is tougher to predict.

7. Lot is maybe 1/4 acre. It's small.

8. We have a single driveway and park our single car on it. If we were more diligent about arranging potted plants and a grill, we could fit 3 cars single-file, but we only own the one car, so we fill up the space with other things.

I bought my house before I even thought about being mustachian (my naïve days).

1.  How many sqft is your home? About 1650. It's a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom, 2-story ranch house, built in 2011. The lot is around 6500 square feet.

2.  How many live in your home? Me and 2 dogs.

3.  Do you own or rent?   Own.

4.  What do you spend on rent or mortgage/taxes/insurance per month? About $1180 all in, with $100 per year in HOA dues.

5.  If own, what is the balance or mortgage, if any? $149K

6.  Are you intending to stay in current residency or is a move in the future? I'm intending to stay for a long while. I've made some improvements (the house came without a fenced-in back yard--just an open area of messy clay in the back yard. I landscaped and fenced it in for the dogs. I'm planning on adding a covered patio one of these days, primarily because the summers are very, very long and hot here in South Texas, and being outside in direct sunlight on those days is bad for my very white skin. I'm still trying to figure out the most economical way to cover a patio. It's just me and nobody I know has any building or DIY experience at all. Thing is, there's a ton of space and I could build a really great covered patio.... I just don't want to spend $20,000 doing it. Anyway, that was a tangent. I'll be staying awhile.

We're in transition. Living now in NC, just closed on house in CT. Moving after school is out.

NC house:

1.  How many sqft is your home? 2200

2.  How many live in your home? 2 adults, 1 teen, 2 elementary school kids, pets

3.  Do you own or rent?   Own

4.  What do you spend on rent or mortgage/taxes/insurance per month? $600 total

5.  If own, what is the balance or mortgage, if any? $50K

6.  Are you intending to stay in current residency or is a move in the future? Leaving in 44 days. :)

7. What is the size of  your lot/garden? Our lot is just under 1/2 acre.  Lots of flat, sunny areas for veggies.

8. Where do you park?  The house (built in 1830) was an antique store in the 90s, so there's a gravel parking lot. Parking for 10, no problem. No garage.

CT house:

1.  How many sqft is your home? 1670 (will be finishing the basement after we move in)

2.  How many live in your home? Same 2 adults, 1 teen, 2 kids

3.  Do you own or rent?   Own

4.  What do you spend on rent or mortgage/taxes/insurance per month? $1200 total

5.  If own, what is the balance or mortgage, if any? $157K

6.  Are you intending to stay in current residency or is a move in the future? Staying at least until the kids are out. Maybe then selling to travel full-time. Or maybe not.

7. What is the size of  your lot/garden? Narrow, shady lot. Two blocks from a farm with a kick-ass CSA.

8. Where do you park?  2-car garage.

1. 650 square feet (60 square meters)
2. Just me
3. Own
4. Principal+Interest = $480, Property Tax = $150, Insurance = $50 >>> Total of $680 per month
5. $63k
6. Stay here

Friends/family/coworkers ask me when I'm going to buy a bigger/newer house.  I just smile and say "I'm content living in shelter that is several orders of magnitude better than the rest of the world.  I don't have a need for anything more and could definitely live with less!"

1,000 SF 1950's ranch tract house in Orange County, Ca.
own outright - no mortgage
live alone (does the 20 lb dog count?)
prop taxes and insurances approx. $2000/year
maintenance expenses are pretty much nil since I refuse to do anything to the dump and it's up for sale
plan to downsize, maybe rent, once I am done travelling for a couple of years (I'm an ERer since age 42)
Would love to never own again but will probably end up with a small (500 sf) condo at some point - unless I re-marry to someone like MMB ( Mr. Money Bags) and he wants something larger - which he will pay for of course :-)!

1.  Around 2500 sq ft
2.  Two, soon three, then presumably not terribly long after that, four.
3.  Own.
4.  Around $8500
5.  Around $1.25M
6.  We'll be here for the foreseeable future.

It doesn't sound very Moustachian, and indeed, maybe it isn't. That's what houses around here cost, though.

The following information is a large reason why my own ER is imminent.

1. 850 sq.ft  (we also have 10 acres on a west coast island when the city 850 sq ft. starts to feel cramped)
2. Just my wife and I
3. Own outright (320k equity)
4. $400 (first time home owners grant means we pay about $90 a month in property tax. Grant ends when we move. I am inclined to stay awhile)
5. Free and clear and loving it
6. Will stay as long as my wife wants to keep working - just an 8 minute drive, 30 min bike ride to her workplace. Once she decides to hang it up, we will probably sell the place, take some of the proceeds from the sale and build a nice cabin on our island property and live out our days kayaking with the orcas and other such B.C. west coasty things...
