Hidden Housing Gem
« on: January 25, 2014, 03:23:33 PM »
I live in an affluent area, which has its pros and cons.  One of the pros is it is an outstanding school district with great teachers, curriculum, facilities, etc.  One of the cons is housing is expensive.  Houses in the school district are typically McMansiony, and are in the $550-800K range.  School taxes are probably around $8-12K.  (We live in an nice townhouse that is less expensive, and I'm satisfied with that.)  There is one condo complex in the school district where a 3 bedroom condo is about $150K.  I think it is a really nice looking complex with lots of mature trees, a pond, and a swimming pool.  It reminds me of Germany.  I just  think it is really cool that for a remarkably low price and property taxes of about $2500, a family can get access to an outstanding school district.  Anybody know of any other hidden gems like that?
