Definitely Duck Donuts.  There's one in Duck, of course and one in Kill Devil Hills I believe.

Have a great trip, lovely area.

Head south to Hatteras Island and Buxton for a tour of the Cape Hatteras lighthouse and pastries at the Orange Blossom Cafe.

If you make it down to Ocracoke, the Back Porch has amazing food.  Not cheap, but completely worth the price.  Now I really want some crab beignets.

OBX is our home away from home!
Headed there in 3 weeks.
For just a good ole hotdog or hamburger joint try Spanky's near milepost 4.

We've added so many places to the "must go to" we need to add more time spent down there.

Why not just go to Sandbridge Beach?

Better experience minus the long drive to get there. You're 30 minutes away.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
