I'm not sure I had a point.  If so, it was: yes NY state taxes you to death.  But California lights what is left of your corpse on fire?

LOL, got it. But you have to admit CA. can be a pretty sweet place to leave. Buddy of mine is heading back to his wife's family farm on the coast of Oregon. They bought a place in Fremont in '89 for $190K. His entire street is now nothing but Indian nationals in tech. Neighbors have made it clear that when he is ready to go, they want first rights to buy him out, and they will do the deal fast, with no realtor. The current appraisal is two million.
Ha!  Two of my good married friends (an Indian national in tech, married to an American of Indian descent - well, actually I think the Indian national is probably a citizen by now) live in Fremont, in a very Indian neighborhood.  Maybe they are neighbors!  Their house: valued at just under $2M.  Although their house is newer, wasn't around in 1989.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
