Graphic artist recommendations?
« on: March 19, 2018, 08:53:39 AM »
I知 looking for a good, yet economical, graphic artist to help me create some T-shirt designs.  I have ideas but need someone who can take my ideas and actually create designs in a format that is printable in silk screen format.  Any recommendations?

If so, would you mind sharing their contact information and online portfolio if possible?

Thank you!

My partner is an artist, I'll include a link to her Fiverr so you can see her portfolio. May not be what you are looking for, but she has done quite a few tshirts and beer labels so has experience. If you just need help with layout or more of a logo design for the shirt, then she probably isn't the right artist. If you decide to message her on Fiverr, put MMM in the message so she knows it's you. She'll be very honest whether she thinks she is the right artist for the job. I don't know enough about art to be able to tell if this is something in her skill set :)

I know you can find people on etsy as well.
Just be aware that graphic designers don't get paid $10-15 an hour; it's minimum $25 and up. You will need to ask yourself whether what you want it is cost effective to hire someone versus doing it yourself.

You can try a student.  That should be more economical.

OP here.  I should provide some insight into my request.  My current quote is $100/hour at the print house I知 considering.  I知 sure they will be great and by working with them I値l have a comprehensive solution under one roof.

What I知 really looking for is portfolios to look over before I start talking details with artists.  I知 not necessarily looking for the cheapest artist so don稚 be afraid.

MMM is a large community, just looking to crowd source some ideas.  Thanks again!

Following this thread, as I'm looking for a logo designer that can do a minimalistic, attention grabbing logo for an outdoor/fishing brand. Let me know!

I would recommend looking around Etsy for someone that works in a style you like, and reaching out to them about custom work. You could also try DeviantArt (I have a friend who found an artist for her children's book this way), but there's a bit more schlock to dig through there.

Well, at the risk of blatant self-promotion:  my side gig is as a professional illustrator/graphic artist with over 20 years experience.  I've done multiple business logos of various kinds, along with tattoo designs and signage.  You can get a good idea of my style here:  http://www.rhpotter.com

Also, as a side note, keep in mind that a reputable artist will also quote you not just their hourly rate, but work out what kind of rights transfer you need or want for the finished product.  That's usually an extra charge on top of the hourly rate--if you don't get the rights to the work, then copyright automatically stays with the artist and you can't legally merchandise it or use it for promotional purposes.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
