GPS replacement batteries?
« on: September 03, 2016, 12:06:22 PM »
Been trying to find a replacement battery for a Garmin Nuvi 2597LMT. I'm in Canada and shipping from the US would make the cost ridiculous. I did find a generic battery, would this work?

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00L0KELB8/ref=asc_df_B00L0KELB84491174/?tag=shopbotca-20&creative=395285&creativeASIN=B00L0KELB8&linkCode=df0

It looks like there is no shipping charge.

I know many people here probably use the sun and stars to navigate but I bought this garmin in 2014 and the battery crapped out in 2015. Garmin wants 90 bucks to change the battery and I would have to ship of course.

Have you checked eBay etc for a damaged unit to take the battery from? I don't specifically know about Garmin models (which ones share same battery etc.) but there is one of those 2597LMT available for £40 on eBay UK (software issue or similar but photos show it working on battery power), so perhaps similar items are available where you are? Broken electronics like this can often be picked up very cheaply as people don't know how to repair them.

I am generally dubious about third-party batteries as quality can vary widely.

The link you posted is to a battery for a Nuvi 250, not 2597.

I'd go with: https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Garmin-Nuvi-2597LMT-Installation/dp/B00INC2FL4

I never did buy one, the one you just linked would ship from the U.S. It would be close to 50 bucks cdn and who knows what would happen at the border.

Edit: those guys won't even ship to Canada it seems. New power will but then the price is over 60 bucks CDN. Seems to be an odd GPS unit, I can get every other Nuvi  battery replacement in Canada but this one.
