Got a Second Interview: Phone
« on: September 29, 2016, 09:46:42 AM »
I had an interview on Tuesday that lasted the entire hour.  I think it went pretty good.  Today I received a call from HR to setup a second interview with another manager in the department.  This is a phone interview.  I have had a few phone interviews, but they were before the face-to-face.  Any advise on how to prepare?

Treat it like you would a face-to-face, but with the added benefit that you can make yourself a cheat-sheet. Accomplishments you want to be sure to mention, details about certain projects or experiences, anything your brain is liable to gloss over in answering a question.

I used 3x5 notecards with subject headings and bullet points for my last one.

Don't try to multi-task while on the phone. People notice if you are distracted.  I try to go to a quiet place where there will be no interruptions.

I agree with crispy.  Find a quiet place with no distractions.  Make sure you have a good connection, preferably a land line.  I've had more candidates disqualify themselves by being obviously distracted on the phone than any other way.
