Get 1.8 cents per United Mile w/ an App

An Android App called Mileage Plus X lets you link your United account and use the miles to pay for gift cards.  Right now they give you 1.8-2 cents per mile for Amazon gift cards, a great value.  Supposedly you will only get 2 cents if you have Elite status with United.

I unloaded $800 worth last night.  If I completely liquidated our United accounts I'd have $5,000 Amazon credit.  Not quite sure what the heck I would do with that.  Any ideas?

Thanks for posting. I've been trying to get rid of my United miles for about 10 years. For the super saver awards they always want to route me through Denver or Chicago or Dulles, and that's usually way out of my way.

I've been really good about not buying stuff on Amazon lately. But the need still comes up.

Any downsides? I'd be cashing out about 20k miles. Not enough for a super saver RT anyway.

Is there any way to do this without using the app? It says the app is not compatible with my phone in the app store. I have a super old Android (Republic Wireless old phone).

they fixed the (mis)pricing error in the system- it does not matter if you have the app now or not.  you can still convert through the app , you just not get the same rate (it would be <1c per mile)

Yup, deal is dead.  I converted $1,000.  Good enough for me.
