Genious!!!
« on: January 26, 2016, 06:18:17 AM »
My wife recently joined me in the Middle East so we can live together finally.   In the process of looking for some furnishings for the place we are renting we've visited various furniture stores and have surfed the local version of Craigslist.

Recently I came upon the item in the link below.   The guy who made this is a certifiable genious and should be enshrined alongside Thomas Edison in the inventors hall of fame or some such.

(my wife was not impressed however;  whaddasheknow)

You guys are obviously not on Pinterest!  That is like preschool-level pallet furniture.  You should see some of the things people build with pallets.

Just be aware that the wood used in those is usually heavily treated with chemicals.

Hey Munch, I'm happy that you and your wife have been reunited.  I was long distance with my wife for like 3 years.

I'd listen to your wife about pallet furniture.  You gotta reel it back in a little bit, putting casters on a pallet isn't quite up there with the incandescent light bulb.  Pallets can offgas chemicals and they can house insects.

However, I'm a huge craiglister so I won't discourage anyone from using it or anything like it.

Ha, what are the chances I'd find another expat American in Muscat on these forums...well, maybe pretty good if I was actually looking, but I was just browsing. I live in MQ.

If you're the type who likes eating from the couch, you just wheel that thing into the kitchen, set the table, and wheel it back out. Perfect setup.

Don't do it!

Pallet might be OK in the garden.  But keep them out of the house and away from your loved ones, especially a pregnant wife as listeria has been found on a significant amount of pallets.  The juice just isn't worth the squeeze with pallet furniture.

I especially like the luxurious tile floor it's sitting on.

I was picturing it doubling for moving furniture, refrigerator, dead bodies.   How more efficient can one get than having useful, practical, multitasking coffee tables.

How long have you lived in MQ?

I am in Ghubra for past 5 years.

I'm a short-timer...just a few months. Another few and I'll be off to the next sunny spot (but not too far...everyone wants to be in the Gulf for summer, right?)
