Has being on the road to FIRE impacted you as a boss?
This path has made me way more focused on quality of life, and this seems to have impactee my approach to employees. When they get caught up in the bullshit of work, we shift our focus to what we actually have control over and how what we do helps others. When I have to give them numbers addressing their productivity, we put more emphasis on what the numbers mean (helping others). If they want to come to work late or schedule a day off, go for it cause your job is hard and you spend over 40hrs a week doing it. Did an exit interview yesterday and the staff told me I was the easiest manager in our program to work with cause I'm straightforward, give a fuck about them, and don't micro manage. This was really nice to hear cause I've been working hard on my managerial skills, and the staff have had a hand in helping me grow and mature a lot. But, I wonder if I'd have this mindset if I didn't realize how the importance of living a fulfilling life and trying to be FI. People get so caught up in the work, they forget to look at the big picture of just living a fulfilling life.
Which is why I'm curious how it's impacted you as a boss?
